History

Devonia Lodge dates back to 1856 and uniquely Devonia Lodge is and was the first guest house on Hoole Road in Chester, in the sense of time and location. Hoole Road (A56) is principally the main accommodation area of Chester and is popular with visitors from all over the world due to its excellent location nearest to the City.

Of all the guest houses on Hoole Road, Devonia Lodge is closest to the city centre which is approximately 10-15 minute walk and a mere 8-10 minute walk to the railway station. Also uniquely the same family has run and owned Devonia Lodge for over 45 years, and still offers you tremendous value and a homely welcome.

Being here first and the longest doesn’t always mean the best, though one look at our guest book and our return customers from as far back as the 1960’s tells you and us that we’re doing something right.
